What is up with people using 'where are you FROM' as pick up openers on the subway? More interesting is when you say, 'here' or ' I'm Canadian' that's disappointing answer. The person usually comes back with an 'oh.... I meant where are you REALLY from?' Like what do they want my ancestorial lineup? why is that relevant? I just don't get it.
I mean telling people that my great grandfather was an actual pirate seems way more interesting than what country my relatives were born in.
